just a question of why we allways have more guests on line than members. i know that sometimes members just pop in to see if there is any new posts etc but its not hard to sign in is it ,i always sign in for the week its easier.would it not be possible to restrict say the last weeks post to genuine guests, or non signed in members which may then incourage new members to join the group/forum and members to sign in. just a thought as i see a lot of posts read and no replies just my thoughts paul

Hi capnjack,
I think that there are millions of people searching the web for fishing related stuff and when they land on here I guess they stay for a bit and have a good read.
People might want to come here on holiday and type in 'Sea fishing north wales'
and of course there are the yanks! ;D

Know what you mean Captjack, I've been a lurker on here for years, not sure how long maybe 4 or 5 years. Generally (going back a couple of years) I'd only be wetting a line every couple months, if that, busy with work, life etc etc, but would look in to see if anything was being caught. Then after catchin dogs or blanking didn't seem much point in posting a report. I think I registered on the last format, but when I called the page up I probably was shown as a guest, and of course email addresses, computers, internet providers change so unless you're participating don't suppose the onlookers are bothered... It took me a few weeks to realise I could automatically be registered on here every time - as I'd stored the forum in my favorites, sort of by-passing the logging bit, it was only when I came to reply to a post that I realised. Then checked the "remember me" box, so now it's automatic. That was a long reply! ;D

i don't know how this site counts views on posts, but it has to be the busiest in terms of that I have seen. There seem to be an amazing amount of poeple viewing posts. Not always that many replies though.

I believe that the issue of Guests viewing is based on the why bother approach. All the information of whats catching is freely available for everyone to see so why become a member ? There are a lot of people in this world who have an opinion / views without ever airing them, I find it a waste of being able to use the freedom of speech act, but thats me. A large number of Good quality members is a must for a good forum and it's content. Perhaps the Guests 'on the fence' feel they don't have anything constructive to say ! Anything and Everything is useful to someone, It doesn't matter how small the topic / issue is, it all adds to a better forum. (As long as It's Sea angling based !) It's often the case that the first posing is the hardest to put on here, you've got to become a member, type your posting or reply and then press the post button, some people find it hard to express there information via a Text format IE forum based. It's not hard and we are all friendly here, so if your a guest, Go one become a member. You must have something to say about something ! Free keyboard practise for any new members joining this week !

thanks for that sam you have said it better than me. so come on all you guests login or register its so easy lets a lot more posters we seem to have lost a lot of big posters here and i have a feeling its because of lack of feedback i lurked for a couple of years then plucked up the courage to make a post and now in what just over a month or so ive made close to 2hundred posts

Naturally I'd prefer to see registered members than guests but there's a lot of users who have been scorched on other forums and like to view only for a month or two before coming out of the closet and posting. I know this because they e-mail me often. A proportion of them are women and children. This is one of the reasons we jump on posts that are too personally critical or aggresive.

Yeah I can understand that, it is always hard. One thing about the hits on threads is that when you google 'fihsing north wales' it come up with this site alot, and north wales is a busy fihsing destination!!

O.k. and me too. I signed up last week or so. I used to post a good few years ago before the site was revamped. looks good by the way. But i didn't know what my old user name was cos i forgot. But i take note of what you said capnjack and i get your point. I will login from now on when i take a look to see whats happening. I'll also post more often now as i am doing alot more fishing. I'm on Anglesey every weekend and when ever i can escape from the Mrs i'll be wetting a line or two. Let you know how i get on.

I was a guest for about 4 yrs or so!
Under various names, I added a few things and learned a few things too.
I now have a bit more time on my hands, (only a bit) so I am now a Full member, or is that Experienced member, or even Experienced Full Member? Can't remember now, Had a few laughs on here though and gained a few friends.
And above all I hope I have helped a few people with tips, venues, etc.

I didn't know that if I dont sign in it would show as a guest It is sometimes easier to just put the page up and see the tide info etc. I know that I was unsure about signing on as a member as most sites charge and you get loads of junk stuff........but not this one so if you are just reading and not joining trust me there are no catch's (esp if you fish with some off here lol) Come on guys join, and from now on I will try to log/sign in when I can (cept in work ) If you are new to fishing we all have stuff to pass on even if it a bad way to do stuff or to let others know what is fishing good or poor. Put a toe in the water guys ..... we dont bite but sometimes the fish do
