Eddie,
Thats right way to approach this matter, what you are saying is don't just set out and start with an unusual bait - right?
I will try it, but this might be a while off yet, because I am currently overseas.
I need to remind meself.

Attention all,
I wish to report that my mate, Dogfish Dazza turned up last night with out of date smoked mackerel with pepper corns in his bait bag. Don't be silly I said, you'll never catch anything with that................ wrong, he bagged a very tidy dogfish on it, I couldn't believe it.

Well butter my squirrel !! Why didn't you try it? I already use raw king prawns, they fit nice on the hook but I might just try the raw liver idea, all that blood and the look of a worm wouldn't look out of place really.

Think the liver turns white when been in the water.......but so what it will still look like a worm!

maybe you're onto something or maybe someone doesn't want you catching too may, hoping you'll persevere with the chicken and leave all the peelers and worms for the rest of us to collect and catch some real fish on.Trouble is I wouldn't know if chicken is any worse than other baits, I blank on all of them.

So how do you know it dont work then granted as posted earlier a half starved fish will eat anything !! but the fish raised in this thread are migratory as are the ones on the southest thread so who knows what they are eating when they do migrate?........we dont do we ;D

guys, the link on chicken is similar to the one on the south section, around the port areas in the south (yes there are a few) ships dump waste food over the side probably pretty much the same all over the world really, i belive that the fish are getting likeurban foxes, why hunt when there is a bin full or a regular supply that is dumped right next to you, To cut a long story short i am going to test the chicken to fresh bait option this week, results will be posted.

That's what you call a day in Looe!! I'll be going down to Devon in the next couple of months and then on to Cornwall. Sun sea and sand, wife in the deckchair reading a magazine, kids making sandcastles, digging holes and eating sandy butties and then me getting bored of catching all those bass and mackerel.......yeah right but seriously, I might just give it a try myself when I go, chicken breast strips in a wd40 marinade, Hmmmm try copy that one kentucky fried boy!!!.

i have heard of people who use live chickens to catch sharks, the nuisances have even (ALLEDGEDLY) used live labrador pups, i think it is in some islands somewhere, it annoys me because it gets anglers a bad name. (and its cruel to animals)

OK I think Ive got a good one for you,
Ive been using Chicken Hotdogs (the cheap ones) to catch everything from Perch to Walleye (Zander in the UK) I've had a nice size Muskie (like pike but bigger) take a good bite the other day but cos numbnuts here forgot to put a wire leader it bit right though my 6lb line LOL.
Now a know a for of you are wondering why a guy from Canada is posting, but Im from the Wirral and only moved out here 3 years ago, and have had to switch from sea water to freshwater which is not a easy thing to do LOL

Hi guys
I'll give this a go at the weekend, I am off to Trevor Pier so will stick out an extra rod with a three hook paternoster, baited chicken, beef, and usual sandeel/.quid combo. I'll let you know the results next week.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Also I bet it's cheaper to get 5lb of 'best' braising steak than it is to get some rotten mini peeler crabs.
Might change the face of shore fishing for the future.
Nic
