When you get your free paddle with your shinny new kayaks it is worth upgrading to a better paddle the shop will tell you the size you need and the blades type. I use the Lendal Knordkapp which is a powerful paddle it is ideal for strong currents and rough seas. Anyone who wants to try them on sunday or the 4th feb is welcome to as they cost around £85 but well worth it. They have enabled me to go out in winds upto gale force 8-9 and paddle and in very fast currents round anglesey

You're a very fit fellah though Dave and you'd probably paddle efficiently with a plank of wood! Did you notice a lot of difference when you upgraded from your old paddle to your new one?
