Hi all, does anyone know of any productive garfish venues along the north wales coast??, Ive read a lot about these fish recently and wouldn't mind targeting them and knocking them off my species list. as far as i know its just a straight forward float rig with small slithers of mackerel belly for bait but if anyone knows different, a few tips would go a long way!! Thanks, martin

I hooked and lost one on the Orm a month or so back, usually where Mackerel are they are too. It was on feathers, I've see them on feathers a macky rock too. Most people fish for them with a float set around 6 foot. they are not a bottom feeding speicies.

hi jeaniemac , itake it you fish the incoming tide on the inland sea side of fourmile bridge .regards steveh. hi martin i used to fish for garfish in dorset, carp rod, tenpound line ,and asyou say basic float set upwith asize 4or 6 silver couloured hook on 18 inch trace from wieght.the bait mack cut into 1 1/2 inch long strips 1/4 inch wide. if the fish are in abbundace try a 2 hook patternoster underneath the float and watch them jump steveh
