Alun and I spent a relaxing day at Porth Iago, the vote being that the walk back up "Cardiac Hill" up from Uwchymynydd would not be favoured!
Steady fishing, with a couple of dozen pollack to 2lb or so, but mackerel few & far between - we had a handful, no more. All excellent fun on light gear!
Most fish were caught on floatfished frozen sandeels. Three pollack on feathers and two of those were only half-pounders. Tried Dexters, Jellyworms, Redgills, Hokkais, various colurs of feathers - no they were not interested mostly. Get on the float and off it went!
The water was crystal clear - this makes me think that maybe artificials are less good in such clear conditions, because the fish are better able to see the deception?
We had the best value for money anyone could ask from a single pack of AMMO eels, using them and reusing them until they were mangled beyond description! We had to - it was all we had in terms of bait LOL! So if you're planning a bash down there, do make sure you take some
Cheers - John
