Yesterday Steve B (North East Admin) and Myself (SW Admin) met up in the far West of Cornwall. We had booked ourselves on a boat out of Penzance for the day.
Heard from the Noth East section members who had warned me to watch out that Steve B was jammy!!!!!
Picked Steve up at 7.30am from Hayle and then drove down to Penzance. We went straight into the Harbour Side cafe for a big breakfast and coffee. The talk was our expected catches on what we believed would be a fine day.
After Sausage, bacon, egg, hash browns, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms and toast we climbed aboard the boat. The other anglers made up about ten of us fishing and most of them seemed novices.
The sea was pretty flat and the weather was ideal.
Steve posed for the camera as we set off.
There were a load of Basking Shark and at on stage we stopped to have a look at a group of 4 which came right around the boat.
After almost 2hrs we arrived at the first mark and started to fish. Then the day set in!!!!!!
No matter how hard we tried we couldn't catch a fish. The other anglers (novices) catching Cod and Pollock.
We moved around several marks and in the end ended up with Steve 1 pollock and myself 2 pollock. Completely outfished by the novices!!!!!
Then 2 1/2 hrs back to Penzance in shame.
Was very nice to meet Steve and we had a laugh, mostly at the lack of fish for us and being outfished by the others!!!
Steve is a cracking bloke and very friendly. Will fish with him again.
Another photo of the Minack Thearte nestling in the cliffs before Lands End.
Maybe next week we will meet again and have a trip out from Minehead for Rays and Hounds. Hopefully with better results!!!!!
So - dont laugh, the admins here may blank but we take it in our stride!!!!
Think Steve has more photos and will add to this when he is back.!!
At least I caught more than him. ;D
;D ;D ;D
