fished the heugh breakwater,hartlepool last saturday ,loads of mackerel being caught mainly on feathers ,the guys on float where getting nowt,daylighters where the best.Iwas even getting half pound coalies two at a time on them.Anybody know why the lads float fishing did so bad .

just guessing but I would say it's cos the macks are full of sandeel at the mo' and they are chasing there pray were as a float is a little more static. Could be talking out me backside of course ;D ;D Well done anyway mate ;D

this always happens at the begining of the season.
the first fish always seem to take spinners and feathers first.
its only after they have been in for a while that you can get them on float.
once they will take a float bait you can get more on a float than other methods.
they were taking floats on steetly on saturday .. but anything that hit the water was taken straight away anyway.
