the results of the charity match at loch etive is
1st david kelly 2 thornback rays total lenght 130cm
2nd danny farrel 1 dogfish 65cm
3rd drew armstrong 1 dogfish 47cm
biggest fish david kelly thornback ray 78cm
in total 14 anglers fished the competition with a total of £70 for the RNLI
a big thanks to glasgow angling for donating the prizes and also everyone who turned up including ken p (the only one from the scottish forum), markzapper and tompa (from the northeast forum ),and all the lads from firth view s.a.c , ayrshire.
the venue for the comp was changed from the quarry to the church further back along the loch due to a bus load of anglers turning up to fish the quarry, this decision was made approx 20 mins from the start and was agreed by everyone fishing the comp, a large poster was left on kenp's caravet to inform anyone who turned up after the 11am start where to go,
things looked promising in the start with a dogfish coming in within the first 10mins of the match but as the tide started to rise it all went quiet until david kelly struck into the first and biggest ray of the day,
78cm thorie nose to tail
after the measure and return of the ray things went quiet again with some baits not even getting touched , a couple of crabs and a scorpion fish seem to be the only things taking baits until once again david kelly struck into a thornback ray, this one measuring 52 cm nose to tail, there was another lull but with about 20mins to the end of the comp danny farrell managed to get a dogfish which of 65cm put him in second place.
although the fishing wasn't the best the sun was out, the banter was good and everyone enjoyed themself, i have met a good bunch of lads and 1 scottish international, and will be fishing with them again in the near future
just a couple of pics of the day , forgot to take them of the winner with his trophy and for anyone interested the biggest thornie was also put on the scales and came in at 6lb 11oz
