Me and 3 mates went up to loch Etive quarry yesterday from 11am to 8pm and had a total between us of 1 small gurnard. We fished the 1st high tide off the rocks opposite the quarry and the low tide off the boulders after the quarry and we used mackeral on the bottom. What are we doing wrong?

Hi, i dont know anything about fishing in Scotland but i know that everyone goes through phases when their fishing, for example the last 5 times i have been fishing which is around 22 hours of fishing i have only caught 1 flounder!! everyone that i go fishing with were catching, i was getting seriously worried! i was doing the same as they were. i tried EVERYTHING believe me and not a sausage. i was going to give up fishing it was that bad! but everyone goes through this i think its just luck to be honest! and i know i will get back on course and hopefully catch a big fish to compensate! ;D ;D ;D good luck mate

hi fishermansam the quarry hasn't been fishing very well lately, thats one of the reasons we moved the charity event on the 21st, the bus load of anglers was the other, ive found that the best time to fish the quarry is when its dark, if you are going to fish the quarry one of the best places is right throught the quarry, about a mile and a half along a dirt track, the water is deeper there , there are other places to fish at etive rather than the quarry which produce in daylight, the area around the falls fishes in daylight but it can be a tricky place to fish with fast water either side of the bridge, there is also the church which fishes over low water, and a couple of places on the south side of etive.
