Thought I'd post this here as Scotland is the nearest country to the Isle of Man
Just back in after an evening plugging for Bass at my favourite spot. I arrived early, about two and half hours before HW to find the place literally alive with Mullet. Now there’s usually a few knocking about here, but tonight well I’ve never seen as many in one place. I waded in and had them swimming around me, some big fish amongst them too.
An hour before HW on schedule I had my first Bass, a nice fish of 550mm. weighing about four pounds four ounces. The next hour and a half produced another six Bass; all were like peas in a pod measuring between 550mm. and 560mm
All the Bass were retuned alive, with the exception of one which had taken the plug so far down its throat that it needed an operation to get it out despite using barbless hooks.
I’m just hoping this hot calm weather stays around for tomorrow because I know where I’m going to be at.
I was fishing tonight with a new spinning rod from Stan Massey of Alba Rods in Glasgow, two pound test curve and ten feet long, what a good piece of kit it is too. Handled these fish no problem an casts an 18gram plug with eas
