Previously I have written that Granton pier was not worth fishing although I had never tried it. I heard of someone catching a 4lb codling off there and since it's just 20mins drive from my house I decided I'd give it a go. I went down with my dad and started fishing about 4 hours before hightide. 3 hours to hightide and I had my first ever scottish wrasse it wasn't huge but still a special moment. Then my dad had a small ling of about a pound. 2hours before hightide to 1hour before hightide saw us with about half a dozen mackeral 1 which was just over 1 and a half pounds and a small codling. I take back my previous statement Granton pier is worth perservering with ;D

::)hi sam ive fished granton breakwater many a time and it has its ups and downs like anywhere i suppose but it really fishes well when the mackrel are around and the biggest iv caught from there is a 6 lb codlin so best to try it no and again the west pier wich sadley had been knocked down used to produce cod in nice numbers so well done on discovering the potential of granton breakwater
