Have heard from many a source of the best way of preparing it. If youve ever used it straight from the freezer you will know it is a pain and ends up like a lump of poo around the hook. Right I put a few recommendations togever and they came up good. Firstly place a wrap of 12 worms in a microwave (still frozen) and cook on full power for 70 seconds. Remove the worms and use an air freshener before the wife shouts. Then place worms on a couple of layers of paper in a baitbox and sprinkle them allover with salt (plenty). Covered and used a few hours later they are firm and do not slide down the hook snood. The salt only draws out moisture and so all the smellies and goodness stays in them. ;D Anyone agree or disagree or have any other ideas.

I don't think i would start cooking black lug in a microwave, personally i cover fresh worms in a mixture of salt and pilchard oil, wrap in newspaper and freeze. When you come too use them they should be firm, very much like a fresh bait.

Gilbey, this is what i do with black lug if freezing them. firstly make a few snoods with pennal rigged hooks, with a small barrel swivel at the other end, then bait this snood with a few lug and wrap the lug in cling film, leaving the swivel end of the trace showing, then pop in the freezer on a pre chilled metal baking tray, and lay out the lug traces on it, helps with freezing faster. Them when yah ready to go fishing, 20 mins before, drop some ice cubes into a food flask to chill it, then after 20 mins or so, remove some or all of the ice, drop yah frozen snoods into the flask, then secure the lid, and hey presto, frozen lug, no worrys about it ending up like poo at the hook end, attach to main trace, clip down and send it outa site, they do cast well too. I have also tried this with the darker blow lug, and it also works, but tend to gut these pop them first to rid of watery fluid, but retain the juicy bits for scent. Worth a try daley g

The microwaving doesnt cook em as they are frozen when they go in. It just thaws them rapid and toughens them. Wrap of 10 in newspaper for about 70 seconds. Try It. ;D
