Just come back from Shell Island - glorious day! ;D No big fish, but lots of different ones, mackeral, gurnard, dabs, dogfish, black bream, horse mackeral (had to look that one up!) and loads of small whiting. Looks like my girlfriend is hooked, she pretty much out fished me!! Only complaint was me using "HER" mackeral for bait! LOL Pics when I get a camera sorted. It seemed to go really quiet about 4pm, all the boats left and there didn't seem to be anyone on the shore either - wonder why...... Didn't see Gaz or Hatter, but might track down Hatter tomorrow.....

Hi Marc,
I was on the island but couldn't find you. Had a few small fish on the Thursday & accidentaly foul hooked a mullet through the tail, which gave me an exciting 5 mins on a fly rod.
Shame not to see you again but I'm sure there will be plenty of other occasions.

Hi Gaz, Yeh I looked out for you, trying to spot that van of yours! Saw a couple of yaks in the distance, but couldn't tell for sure. We were almost directly out from the harbour, spent most of the time the other side of that pink (I think) buoy. See ya soon. Marc

Shell Island is a good spot - especially on a kayak. I was there the same weekend as the others with a few other SWFF's. Don't bother chasing the petrol heads - which even managed to mutilate and kill a dolphin or two that weekend!!!
John, are there are 'good' reefs relatively close in at or near Dinas? I don't really fancy or feel the need for paddling miles to fish. I wouldn't mind popping to Dinas after work as well as I work relatively near by.
Cheers Steve

From Bangor, North Wales, it should take no more than 1 1/2 hrs. I think you must take the Caernarfon road then aim for Beddgelert, from Bedd drive to Penrhyndeudraeth, take the toll bridge and follow Harlech road. Through Harlech and Llanbedr and signs for Shell Island on your right. Hope this helps. Cheers Tim
