Well, I got fed up of painting and the call of the sea was so great just had to go for a spin, literally! Went down to my local beach where conditions were not ideal, sunny and bright. The water was warm, and as I rummaged to find any peelers in the weed, I came across a few mini species... A 5 Bearded Rockling A Butterfish And a Common Blenny or Shanny As I got into the water I noticed it was crystal clear again but this time it was alive with sandeels. So I knew that I might have half a chance. I took 4 spinners with me, talk about traveling lite. Started with a silver one, then added a bit of colour incase there were any Seatrout about but nothing. I moved about, changed lures, altered depth and retrieve but not even a follow, I think the sun was too bright, but the water is definitely warm enough now, Must get my lad a pair of chesties!! So, no fish again but it won't be long now, early morning or evening sessions will produce, I'm sure of it.

I recognize that mark Fester, one small photo can give a lot away. What rod are you using, is it a four piece. A mate of mine got a bite on his finger from a blenny. He was telling me about it only yesterday, it really hurt. The worst bite i ever got was from a big Tortoise when i was a kid, now that did hurt.

when I initially posted that photo it was the biggest out of the lot!?? now its the smallest? ? Its no big secret, it's West Shore at LLandudno, I'm at work now so can't change it, will try again tomorrow. The rod is a Shimano Exage 330H, I am trialling it before I use it in Portugal in 2 weeks time Its not bad for the price, but travel rods tend to be a bit crap anyway. The only problem with it I found out today is that if you cast heavier lures with it for a long period then the middle spigot can become loose and the eyes go out of sync! Ideal for float, spin and plug abroad for 2 weeks though. As for the tortoise, not bad on a BBQ I suppose.

Anyway that rod is a good rod for lure fishing(I have one) and considering its a multipiece the balance and action is superb! You are dead right about some of the spigots working loose after a while of casting. A dab of candle wax helps a great deal, just a dab mind, too much and you'll never be able to push it home. Also I was just watching a Mike Ladle video and he was using on eof those very same rods himself...so youre in illustrious company there mate!

Rzaskar, whats the casting weight on that rod. I tend to go for a 10-50 myself.

RZ,
I know what you mean, mine is in 2 pieces in my boot right now, I guess it will save wear on the joints though.

The 330H is rated at 20 - 50g i fink but im in work at the moment so carnt check. The rod will handle most lures and spinners that u would be chucking in to british waters
