has anyone advice on using surface lures such as poppers for bass. What conditions suit this best, flat clear water or choppy etc. how do u work the lure? I have tried several times casting into feeding bass but to no avail. Are there any other surface lures(snag free) that work better?

hi mikey, rapala j13 is a good bet cost around a £10er cast along the shore line and vary the speed so it dives and surfaces. have had some stunners on this plug. i have also just bought some others that look like small makerell, the best advice i can give is look up this link. mike has donkeys years experience of bass fishing, if i could catch 25% of his sucess i would be a happy man. www.mikeladle.com/osa.html also read his book on bass fishing. i promise you once you understand more about the nature of bass you will be more succesful. good luck let me know how you get on. cheers david
