After a great weekend catching wrasse at Ravens Point Im looking to find them a bit closer to home for the odd evening trip out after work. Anyone know of any hot spots or safe ledges?

Cheers to the replies guys, especially fester. Who knew rocks could be so much of an issue!!
Fished point Lynas last Sat morning with my Bro and a mate. All of us had good fish and constant bites with a little wandering about, My mate had a nice 4lb Ballan & me n our kid both got a Corkwing. Another off the species list for the Yr!! Theyre no fun without light tackle tho

Hi Guys,
Just wondering, should you be fishing to the left or right of the lighthouse, I've only ever fished to the right of the lighthouse! and caught bugger all, although the missus did have a small pollock spiing a couple of weeks back.
Rgds

If your not bothered about size, the little bay on the little orme (Angel Bay i think) has a really comfortable ledge where you can catch ballans and corkwings on worm. Floatfishing generally takes the smaller ones, while ledgering gives you the chance of a better fish. Holding the rod is a priority here as they will take you straight to snags. The biggest one i have seen caught here was nudging 3 pounds but with a spinning rod and 12 pound line the plentiful 1 lbers are great fun. Fish a simple paternoster with no swivels etc. and a dispensible lead - all that is needed is a gentle underarm swing - they are literally under your feet!
I find that they are most active at low tide on an overcast/rainy day but take care getting down to the ledge if the rocks are wet. Drive along penryn bay towards the orm untill you find some steps leading up to the top of the hill. Park here and walk along the top of the orm untill you get to the bay, then follow the little path along the right hand side (when facing out to sea) the ledge should be clearly visible.
Hope this helps! Vaclav

was going to fish angel bay back about 2 months ago but found it is one hell of a sun trap deffinitely a place to wear sun cream the bay just has the sun shining into it all day and we went down about 6pm one night and it must have been about 40 degrees in there, very good for the mackerel one of the 1st places where they start to show, on a hot day tho there maybe no point due to it being the same as pigeons on the great orme, teenagers jumping off rocks into sea.

hi nicstreet, the best of the fishing at point lyeness is on the left side as you are facing the lighthouse from the drive up

I have been fishing the Angel Bay mark myself a couple of times over the last few weeks for wrasse. Best Ive hd out is around 2lb and the bites dry up in no time if theres more than 2 of you fishing there. I found low water to be most productive too and ledgered baits score best.
Species hunters take note we caught more than a couple of Rock Cooks last tuesday evening
