Fished the Bay last night and took my 14 yr old Daughter for her first fishing ever. We arrived about 1 hour before HW and thought about doing the pier but decided the prom would be better for her. Used shrimp rigs (redwolf) and some other types. Prom was full but got close to my usual mark. Major problem with crossed lines as some think casting along the shore line with a full prom is better for catching macks Daughter is very out spoken and was not pleased as they pulled her line in more times than she did. In the end I was casting out each of our rods and letting her bring them in, but no macks for her. Pity cos think the whole line crossing and no fish may have put her off fishing now. There were a few large macks taken by others close to us but seeing someone smack a mack over the prom rails and it fall into the sea was not what she expected (or the guy who could not keep hold of it, as it was his only one lol). Just a note for those of us who care about the image we set here, a cosh is a much better way and less blood splatting the onlookers if you are dispatching you catch the quick way. we get bad press as it is lets not add to it! Thanks to the guys close to us who could see that she was a little distressed at the way some were dispatching their fish and so did theirs out of her view

Still trying for those mackeral, the dam things were juming out in front of us this morning(Sat) and still caught none...trying again in the morning , Best and quickest way to dispatch them iv'e found is finger in mouth and upward movement breaking backbone(very quick) ...oh that was at Pensarn/Towyn by the way.

The filleting knife to the back of the head is best, keep it with blade going across the fish and put it in at the mark towars the base of the head. It takes a split second and it only needs to go in half an inch to and inch. No mess and no damage to the fish.

Took Daughter again Sat night still didn't get her fish but I got 1 again fair size. She seems to be getting to like it now and was fine until we moved down to Tan Lan end when most people had gone home. She put her hand on the rail and it was covered in fish blood, Explained that not all people are the same and that there is an element of people who only fish for mack's in the Holiday season. Think she now understands and is even getting in on the meeting people and having a chat, Colin1 she loves your dog She had a good go at casting and got about 40-50yards in the end, not bad for first night trying. Took fish to my mums in Rhyl for a late night feast so the fisherman's stories started already by her.......... ''Gran look what I caught for you'' Mmmmmmm was sure it was me that caught it! Never mind it keeps her happy
