After seeing an article in sea angler mag about the pier in redcar i took a drive up from work on Wednesday afternoon for a spot of spinning. Managed to get to the end by the lighthouse, it was quite busy there and people were catching some good sized mackerel, but they seemed to be few and far between, and as it said in the mag the seals were there waiting to scoff whatever was was getting hauled in!! The birds were working well just out of casting range, probably syou........s, i foul-hooked a few as i reeled in, that was all i got that afternoon. I walked back down the pier to a little rocky outcrop and tried a couple of surface lures in hope of a bass!! no joy there either. It was a nice mark to fish and i will go back when i get the chance, but i tell you what, i wouldn't be surprised if you end up losing it, the end of the pier looked like a landfill site with the amount of rubbish left there, i don't think Ive seen anywhere so bad, and it was all anglers rubbish. I'm probably going to get a barrage of abuse now for saying this, and i will probably get told 'if you don't like it don't come back', fair one too. don't lose yourselves a good venue guy's
