A last minute decision to fish chapel point in lincs late on fri night into sat morn saw me and sean making our way over the bridge again and into linconshire again last night we set up camp at 11pm on fri night and settled in for the night of hound action. we waited..... we waited......... and we waited............... nothing. then at about 2am i had a bite that ripped the rod from the rest, i lifted into it and could feel a hefty weight on the end, the weight started to move off out to sea, i just couldnt stop it... it dicided to go screaming off down tide with me running behind it and BANG! it smashed me up. big hound, tope, big thornback, stingray who knows? a few more quiet hours went passed then at 1st light things started to happen i was 1st into a smoothy with a fish around 6.5lb then a couple more smaller hounds folowed to about 5lb then at 6am the fishing just exploded, with a bite almost every chuck out which resulted in us beach more hard fighting hounds sean had 3 out to about 7lb, i had had 8 my biggest been 8lb 4oz and big paul from WSF had 1 about 6lb 2oz his mate woody was to be very unlucky in loosing his 2 hooked hounds seans hounds i think sean has really been bitten by the bug for this type of beach fishing ;D few more action shots from the night/day top session with top guys cheers all! mack

Another top report. Seems that mark produces very well and I look at it with envious eyes. When do the smoothies stay about till up there? Thanks for the post and photos again, excellent.

Hi Macky
Great report there mate, makes me wanna ditch going North Wales this weekend and travel over t'other side. How far out are you casting to get into the hounds? and is it exclusively crab for bait? Curious as I think the missus could be tempted to stray away from Wales but she aint a big caster.
Thanks
Nic

shame, might have to give it a miss for now. Always feel bad on a beech if I can get into fish and she cant, think a casting instructor might help, see if we can get her to the 120yd range.
Cheers for the info bud.

cool, sold to the geezer with no hair. Any advice on tackle or rigs. I was thinking 18lb mainline with clipped down pulley pennel rigs either 2/0 or 3/0 hooks with a couple of crabs per baited hooks.
Thanks
Nic

15lb is plenty strong enough, macky and myself use ultima f1 [0.32mm]-the lower diameter helps with casting, also macky uses quite small baits and usually outfishes everyone else.i used much bigger baits and didnt gain anything by it.hook sizes sound spot on.

i like the small baits for 2 reasons (maybe 1" long crab peice) 1. a small bait will help u get a few extra yds 2. with big baits i found the hounds tend to smash into the bait and miss the hooks, they have a big nose that seems to push the bait out the way as they hit it 2/0-3/0 hooks on a pully is all i use m8 but make sure u use strong hooks and have a good drag on ya reel ) please treat these fish with the respect they deserve and return them all to the water and have fun:)

sakuma mantas, varivas big mouths and razor claws are all good choices of hook-strong,sharp and wide gaped.
