Does anyone know much about the fishing at cove harbour and ST Abbs? They look like good spots but I havn't heard too much info about them.

hi fishermansam moved your thread to this forum as it is on the scottish side of the border
as for the info cove harbour - most of the area is very kelpy ground especially close in so rotten bottom pully rigs are best with 2/0 to 4/0 hooks, its not advised to fish at distance as you will be lucky to get your gear back, coloured water in a moderate or dying sea in winter, the last 2 hours of the flood and all of the edd are the best times to fish, red cod, wrasse and large pollack are caught in summer, good bags of coalfish can be caught inside the harbour, rag and peeler are best in summer months and lug, razor, mussel, frozen crab and white rag are best all other times.
coldringham bay - flounder, plaice, dab, coalfish, pollack and codling are the target fish, the beach fishes well from may till september for the flatfish to rag, sandeel and peeler, in winter with a sea running codling and coalfish can be caught to worm baits, after a big sea razorfish can be deadly.
st abbs - there are a few spots around the lighthouse that are good to fish with pollack, wrasse and red cod in the summer and cod in the winter, but summer seems the time to fish there, float fished sandeel will pick up pollack but peeler crab in the summer is a must for the red cod

Cheers and by the way sorry for getting the article in the wrong forum I wasn't sure what side of the border it was as I saw an article on St Abbs (not too helpful) in the north east forum. I'll tell you how I get on. Thanks and tight lines for the wales trip.
