Wylfa isn't on its own. Heysham power station and others around the country get the same treatment. In fact the inlet channel on Traws-fynydd power station got the same 'treatment' for the rainbows . . . . and the outlet of Llyn Alaw below the dam likewise, not to mention Tanygrisiau. The fisher owners try to keep on top of these activities . . but I suppose there is no "law" to stop it happening. So you're left with making appropriate noises at those doing it . . . and attempting to stop them getting 'access' in future . . . Maybe - just maybe - when farmed fish prices get that low it makes it uneconomic to catch and sell wild fish. Mayby - just maybe - the retail trade will 'drop' the sale of EXTORTIONATELY expensive "wild fish" - - That, in my humble opinion, is the only area left for the anglers to 'attack' . Reduce the perception "wild is chic" amongst those who are willing to pay those stupid prices . . . .
Wild is BEST watched . . . . . . .. . . . .

Couldn't agree more with you Donald. I am going to take a tape measure into Tescos in Bangor next time - they had some "wild bass" on sale on Saturday pm which looked distinctly less than 16 inches. Last time I enquired in tescos in the Junction the guy looked at me blank when I asked him if he knew what the legal min size for wild bass was (after i had spotted some similarly small looking and wild labled bass). Its time we challenged both individuals and the supermarkets on this issue. The Plaice in Tescos Bangor were also pitifully small.

I think you'll find that most supermarket bass & bream are farmed in Greece or Turkey and as such are not covered by the EU size limits

Trouble is with the farmed bass aren't they stripping the sandeels out of the sea to feed the fish. Leaving no food for the wild ones anyway.
