For those of you who will be targeting bass on the beaches this year, and intend traveling light, I will share with you what tackle I take with me. I just got a few things together tonight as I will be doing a bit over the next few weeks. It may be of value to the beginners among us. Bass move about, so you need to be pretty mobile yourself if you intend hooking one of these incredible fish from a sandy beach, leave the tackle box, rod rest etc. at home, this is what I take, the bare essentials! Bass rod and 6500 size reel. 2x4oz Grip leads & 2x4oz Plain leads. Selection of hooks 2/0 - 4/0 Selection of swivels, links, beads etc. in a small box. Bait elastic. Snood line (Ultima Supersnood). Unhooking forceps. Pocket knife and small torch. All of these items are kept tidy and to hand in a chest pack, I will also take a head torch. My bait will be either in a bucket or a small cool bag, A pair of chest waders and that my friends is all you need for a 3-4 hour roving session on a lonely beach at night! You guys got any other tips?

Lures? No I'm talking here about sandy beaches at night with bait. Like LLyn Storm beaches, Dinas Dinlle (or Dingle ;D) West Shore LLandudno, and Pensarn etc. The lures come out at dawn and dusk when conditions and tides are right (not that often for me these days ) Change your location and hold your rod. By all means have your other tackle in the car for plan B and C. But on the beach Less is More!

Fester,
I go a little lighters, I use a fly fishing jacket, small waist bag, and a telescopic rod, and have been known to get out the old moutain bike to get allong the beach quicker.
At one point I had 2 telescopic rods one beach caster, and one a medium light action long spinning rod.
Even now Im in Canada I use a light action telescopic rod for most things even 30 pound Muskies (like pike but bigger) and a longer 12" tele medium rod for carp (which are huge over here upto and over 50 lbs)

Why do you think? This is a North Wales Sea Fishing Forum. Not an argument zone! Where do you fish ste353? Have you got any advice on fishing? Or venue reports? or tackle talk? or any photos of the fish you have caught, or anything at all to do with fishing?? Or do you just question the Admin on here? If you have nothing of value to say then don't say it!!
Look at the reply I get from my posts! Most of them say Thank You Fester! I Don't see that from any of yours. I wonder why??
I do hope that you are a novice and that you can learn from the genuine people on here. If you want any help in catching fish, then don't hesitate in contacting me as I am more than willing to help, as always.
Cheers for now
Fester!

Bit too light for my liking that amount of kit, except when I'm plugging ( 1 rod, 1 reel, 1 rig wallet with a dozen plugs and a fishbag if I get lucky... oh yeah, a pair of pliers, scissors, spare fluorocarbon, spare reel spools, a few spinners just in case. thats about it except for the digital camera, weighing scales, mobile phone (for sending quick, gloating photos/messages to mates) a few more plugs and even more spinners, a couple of 2oz weights and a selection of hooks if the waters dirty (Fresh collected Mussel/Crab/Limpet for bait) bait elastic, kitchen sink, entire bathroom cabinet argggghhhhhhhh!!!!!
As for those 'new' people
Where do these people come from?!?
In the words of Tubbs from The League of Gentleman "they're not local!?!"
PS Meant as a comment for people that register, post a few antagonistic remarks and disappear never to be seen again not to open up any national divides ok

Garethp
Im thinking your thinking you thing Im NEW......
Erm Im not Ive been fishing around the the coast of North Wales for years, its just that I recently moved to Canada as my wife is Canadian.
This doesnt mean I dont want to keep in touch with whats going on at home, and hopefully add some Canadian (maple) flavour to the forums posts.
So as for being local, Im may not be physically but my heart is standing on a cold wet Trefor pier catching doggies.............
