Can anyone help? I was chatting with a friend yesterday who is well into Carp and Cat fishing in France. Were were talking about bait and how he uses oils and artificial bait and swears by them. I have seen advertised various artificial bait products claiming to out fish live bait for sea anglers ;D ;D (can't see it myself) Does the salt water effect these products in anyway and has anyone given them a go? I would rather chuck a fiver at fresh bait but i know sometimes it hard to source fresh bait at short notice for those last minute trips. Any comments on this would be appreciated.

i,ve always found that addatives are for enhancing a poor bait. or trying to make a pile of mush taste like crab or fish.
personally i prefer to use the best quality bait i can get.
i collect all my own baits and arn,t even confident with bait from a freind or bought from a shop.
buy top quality fresh bait and only use addatives on a por bait ti try to increase your catches.
there are occasions when poor or old bait will outfish fresh bait.
dab fishing is a perfect example

Thanks for that dabcatcher. I always fish with fresh bait when I'm organized. But sometimes if its a last minute or a late fishing trip ill just grab some of my frozen stuff and then wish i had made more effort and got some fresh bait such as crabs etc.
