Whilst in my exile from Angling for a month I have been thinking up new ideas and tactics to use...
1 of which was Swimfeeders as used by our freshwater brethen, I was thinking about incorparating them into my mini species rigs and filling them up with cut up bits of rag etc.
Has anyone tried this? If so, does it work?

have used a swin feeder in the past with cut up worm/beads/and oasis foam soaked with pilchard oil for dabs etc cannot say if it improved the fishing but worth a try when things are quiet.

If you think about it you are relying on the scent from your bait to attract the fish a swimfeeder would work. Fester has used these alot. I would imagine they would be best for mini species.

Hi mate, I used a swimfeeder for mini species, this was a home made feeder, made from my mother's plastic hair curler. I filled it with mackerel heads and guts which I mashed in the blender along with a few bread crumbs. Me and my son caught pollack, pouting, corckwing wrasse, and goldsinny wrasse. All off LLandudno Pier, Here is the home made outfit....... By the way, you will go a long way to find a better hook than the Drennan Super Specialist, for Mullet, All mini species and pollack on the float.

My mum has used them on Borth beach and has caught flatfish with them but i wouldn't say they made a big diference to the catch rate. But i think they would be more effective using them the way fester mentioned.

ive used old film canisters the ones you get 35mm film in i,v packed them with bait or sponge soaked in pilchard oil cant say it improved catch rate much though.even tried those mesh bags you get in soap powder boxes.boat fished them and found i didn,t need hooks i was cathching bullhuss and doggies on it,they were latchin on to the bag and would.nt let go.ignored the hook bait.
