Back after a few weeks on Achill and Currane,Ireland.Loads of fabulous spots for beach and rock sport.Really spoilt for choice but concentrated on the rock ledges on the Currane side. Poor results for the time put in overall. Very few mack's about, small 2 to 3lb thornies,a couple of wrasse and loads of small pollack made up the catch for the week. Toured the island and turned a million rocks for 3 peelers, wrong time obviously. Didn't find any bait shops at all so the mack we caught along with supermarket mussel were our baits, wish I'd took me spade. Jesus the rock platforms in that area were screaming fish, easy access, comfortable and deserted. Cried off a charter in the first week due to the kids/sun/beaches and the trip out on the second week was a seal/dolphin sight seeing cock-up on my side. However checking the returning boats out revealed equally as poor results as my shore sessions. Saw some very large mullet in the two harbours we fished, no kit on us to try for them though and all the shorelines we fished were alive with thick shoals of sandeels just cruising, nothing was seen chasing them. Gonna fish the Dingle later this year.

Hi mate,
Well at least you know now what to expect. You have learned a great deal from that, and you will benefit from it!
Dingle should yield a better head of bass for you!
Good Luck!
