No Cod for me in my latest trip to the area South/Southeast of the Needles, but an excellent day nonetheless. Best fish of the day was a 10lb 8oz Bass, but well supported by two nice Thornbacks and a large Smooth Hound. There were three charter boats in the area and each said the other had one Cod each on board, but when asked they all denied catching Cod.... It all seems a bit silly to me, I'm not going to anchor up next to them, so why be so secretive about how many fish you've got on board. I would see their point if they had found a mark 10 miles off shore and no one knew about it, but this is the Needles area and there are boats all over it at the weekends. The bottom out there is pretty bland so it strikes me that it's pot luck on hitting a spot where a Cod happens to swim by !!! At least the skipper of Wight Rebel is a nice guy. If there was anyone (customers) out there yesterday then tell all - did you get Cod on the boat Cheers - Nick
