Fished South/South East of the Needles (again) in the hope of big cod, but not to be. Two boats in the vicinity, the first had two Cod, around the 15 lb mark and a reasonable Bass; the second had a Cod of 17 lb. I had to content myself with a small Thornback and two Conger; 20 lbs and 27 lbs respectively.
I spoke to a number of boats fishing directly south of the needles and none had boated any Cod, but there were about 15 or more boats and I didn't chat to all, so there may have been some caught.
A chap recovering his boat at Mudeford had caught a nice Blonde Ray about two miles south off Hengisbury Head.
