Hi guys, I haven't been out for ages - weather and work conspiring against me. managed a trip between storms to the south of the Isle of Wight, but it was a bit of a disaster. I'm not ashamed to say that I threw up over the side for the first time on my boat. The swell from the storms was still rolling in (south- westerly) at over ten feet high from the Channel, the wind was westerly and the current from the spring tide running heavily from the east; it was like being sat in a washing machine. I managed to land one conger of 31 pounds - my biggest yet and another bit through the 150 Lb nylon !!!! So note to self - get some 200 Lb nylon for traces !!! Other then the Conger there were lots of the usual doggies but not a sniff of a Cod and no Whiting. I guess the Whiting are a bit intimidated by the very large squid baits I was using.
I still haven't managed a flounder trip yet so maybe next weekend if the weather is too rough to head out deep then I'll give it a bash in Southampton water......has anyone been getting much luck in the Solent ?? I haven't spoken to any other anglers recently, so no news other than given here. Tight lines everyone. Nick
