Hi All has anyone got any advice on where to fish around Christchurch. We are holidaying there again this year, we are just thinking of bringing a couple of spinning rods and some lures.Any advice would be welcome.Last year we didn't have much luck we fished the beach at Mudeford(no joy) and also fished Hengistbury (I think thats correct) (still no joy) both with beach casters. Thanks in advance

hi...lures will work in mudeford run but due to the amount of weed that gets in there it is not really practical. if you can get out on a boat or dinghy then trolling small blue/white artificial sandeels on the surface over the christchurch ledge works a treat. if you're limited to fishing from the beach then you could try catching smelt from the quay and fishing them live into the channel off avon beach. light tackle recommended. alternatively...peeler crab (if you can get them) is the ultimate bait for the area for consistant catches of bass & flounder. big fillets of fresh mackerel work well in the run and sort out the bigger bass...hope this helps you....if you want any other info on fishing the area you can email me at sinking_fast@hotmail.co.uk

hurst castle isnt too far from christchurch if you have a car or transport for while your here .. ive done spinning from right down at the castle which is about a mile walk .. maybe less but on a pebble beach .. your legs will kill you either way ..lol... or i usually walk down to the left of the beach when you come from the little wooden bridge at the entry point to the beach .. i've caught mackeral , bass , some flat fish and what im sure was fogfish .. but im still learning the different types of fish .. so dont quote me .. it looked like a shark and hat brown spots with skin like sand paper..lol... good luck :)

HI Milford especially Tadiford Gap is Good, I have had a fair sized Conga from there. Barton cliffs Are good lots of rock groins to fish from, Highcliff is also good the beach below the castle is excellent for flatties
