Hi Folks, Tried the Solent on Sunday, bu the tide and weed were too much and caught nowt. Did some drifting passed Hurst Castle and caught plenty of mackerel, but no Bass on my boat. Sundance with a boat full of paying passengers was drifting using sandeels and I saw one nice Bass of about 6-8 pound being landed. But they didn't stay and left before the tide became too violent. I later tried in the area off Milford in 10 meters of water; catching small Bream and a couple of diggies. Bored with that and as the wind dropped in the afternoon I headed out to the Needles. Had some better luck there with my first ever Blonde Ray (chuffed) of around 5 pounds. My mate caught a nice pregnant smoothie and between us couldn't count the dogfish. Nothing too exciting, but we only put in around 2 hours off the Needles. Just a shame the weather wasn't calmer the rest of the day. Very little weed off the back of the IOW, so made the fishing reasonable.
