i would recomend the hamble night fish trip on ebay thats up for grabs .i have heard that he is a bloody nice bloke and an excellent fishing tutor for begginers.( i know him quite well).(coff ,coff).you might not catch a huge bass but you are bound to catch over the 1lb mark.

Yes, Nigelnutter tells e he is a good bloke too (LOL).
I think that if you can get out on a boat you will have a much better chance. Mackerel bait this time of year, turn of light.
Nigel: where do you launch from in Hamble? I go out from Lyington usually, but fancy a change, and don't know ramps or when they can be used. Maybe you can tell me or email me (brm@isvr.soton.ac.uk)

this is difficult if you fancy settling for a few 3 to 5lb fish then fish crab bait now from the shingle spit known as the street at tankerton in between whitstable and herne bay, looking out to sea from the beach fish the right hand side of it but dont be tempted to wade there its a killer and known for its disolving base from 3ft of water to 9ft in the same spot in moments' for large bass try live baiting with mackrel when in season at any venue with a good record.good luck and safe fishing.

If you know a summer venue for Mackerel then try fishing that same venue using large mackerel baits (I cut a Mackerel into three chunks).Set your reel on ratchet and wait for the run (I pretend Im carp fishing) Also try a livebaited Pouting a killer on the beach at night.I always leave the tilley at home when Bass fishing at night and sit in darkness with my livebaits fished under the rodtips (it never ceases to amaze me how far in a Bass will come ) when I use my headlamp I always turn away from the sea so as not to cause a disturbance.Im thinking of buying a headlamp with a red filter as a couple of mates swear by them.Have fished the street at Tankerton, great mark for spinning although Ive only caught them to around 3lbish size.Havent fished it with crab though but I bet it could throw up a few suprises.
