Fished Southsea yesterday. A few flattys and a surprise bass of 4lb. I was using edible crab and rag cocktail. No whitings. That surprised me.

ken, So it's not just me then...I've none this year, even from the boat. I'd hoped with all the cold weather that we would be up to our necks in Whiting......they must be gracing some Spanish plate instead !!

We're getting a lot of them on the North Wales venues but no cod. Mind you, I bet global warming is hitting the southern coast even more than ours.

Image, If its global warming then you're next last year I was getting a Cod every trip and this year its one every two or three trips. The size of the fish has also fallen from last year....same baits, same tactics and same area. I don't know if I am alone in this or whether everyone else who fishes the Solent, around the Isle of Wight and Chritchurch Bay has seen the same decline. Maybe I was just luckier last year, but have nothing to judge against as it was my first year on the boat. It would be good to encourage more anglers to report their catches and debate these issues on this website. I have made a promise to myself that in future instead of just chating about catches when approaching Charter boats and private boats. I will also give them the web name....I only found it by accident so I guess there are plenty of others out there like me who would love to contribute. If I'm not out fishing then I can at least chat endlessly about it (judging by the number of my posts) !!!!!!
