Hi guys, I'm asking everyone if they can point me towards some good Flattie marks ?? I have a small boat, so can access most areas along the South Coast, from Langstone to Poole.
my personal best Flounder can't be more than one pound, so I have got to do something about that and eveywhere I have tried last year never took me over that size.
Cheers - Murph

Hi Image, Saw that about Fareham, but I don't know the waters around that area of the Portsmouth Harbour.
I reckon if I launch further down the harbour and then follow the creek channel up to near Fareham I should be about right, but as we all know being 1/2 mile away from a mark can make all the difference. Also, I'm not sure if the channels will fish better than the mud flats ??
harbour boating is unknown to me, but is something I want to get into for those windy days when deep water is too rough; advise needed ??
Cheers guys - Murph

I've fished Soton water. This time of year the flounders should be well up the rivers, so you could try luanching from Crosshouse or Hythe, and fishing off weston Shore or further upriver off where vospers was or, on the Hythe side, just uprover from the slip in hythe marina, 100-200 yeards out. Baited spoon on a float. There should be quite a few around and they should be nice and plump after all that turkey. Don't taste too good though, i reckon.
Weather not looking too bright for the weekend though. I only have a couple of weeks of fishing left before packing up for a work trip to NZ (with a couple of stops in Southa Pacific islands). i've got my littel travel spinning rod, so hope to catch something a bit more exotic than flounders!

One final thought - if you go out from Lymington i would guess most of the inshore waters there woud be OK at this time of year too. A bit quieter and, if there is a NW wind, nice and sheletered.
Hmmm... getting tempted myself....

thanks mate.... I think I'll try Southampton off Hythe and maybe off Weston shore area. I tried it once last year and got zilch !!! I think that I may have been too deep though at 15 meters, so I shall go to some of the shallower water.
Would you recommend anchor or drift ??
And have a nice time in NZ....recon your telescopic will cope with the monsters down there !!!!

Definitely drift if tide and wind OK. Baited spoon fished under a float, bumbling across the bottom. If drifting too fast you might need to acnhor and just let the tide take it away. I always found the bigger the spoon the better. Good fun on light tackle
With the hard frosts of the last few days they should be pretty close in. Tide around noon, which is good too.
No, my rod will NOT cope with the big fish down there, but shouod be great for spinning for kahawai, lures and bait for snapper. trout too maybe........... nice to think of on a freezing cold day here!
Best of luck!
