Hi Guys and Gals, has anyboby had any Mackerel yet? I know we have had a cold spring and i personally dont reckon we will see them til at least mid May this year (South coast/Rye/Dungeness etc) but am curious to find out cos lets face it, you never can tell with fishing!!!!!!!!

Yey! Some mackerel around - earlier than last year I think? Athough my memory is not so good.....
Time to go fihing then...... mackerel = bass

new tactics, new ideas, and sod all caught.... either the chum bag is a no no a day in advance or i fed the fish so well they were not hungry. not a happy chappy.

Hi Animal! A dunno about your neck of the woods, but we never seem to catch much down here when theres a Northerly wind. It was a northerly yesterday (29th) so i never bothered trying!!!!!!. Maybe you should give tactic another go when the winds from the SW? cheers Rob.

Went off Christchurch ledge yesterday. No mackerel (but high tide normally best and I was out at turn of low). fair few bream around though on squid strip and, best when the tide turned, big chnks of mackerel aimed at non-existent bass. Oh yes, and some doggies too
