Emma & I decided to spend the day fishing and after all out blanking at West Bexi, thought we'd try Charmouth.
Got there and set up for 7.00 am, fishing to the left of the Char (facing the sea)
baits: Rag, frozen peeler, frozen squid, Ammo sandeel and fresh hermit.
Tried one rod at distance and one close in, rigs were pennells and two-hook flappers, Emma also tried float on her carp rod. Changed baits regularly but they were not touched at all, not even any crab activity. Fished until it was easier to walk out and check you bait than reel in, so bagged up and moved to Burton Bradstock.
We were set up there by 1.00pm (to the left of the £500k wooden hut) and fished the flood and then down until 9.00pm. Same baits, same tactics, same bloody result. Nada, not a sausage, bugger-all. The only compensation was that we never saw anyone else catch either. In fact the only fish we saw were washed up at Charmouth, 3 small doggies, one with its head missing and a bass of around 2 lbs with its eyes eaten out and a chunk taken from its gut.
Net result 14 hours and nothing except a nice warm feeling that we had spent the day close to nature. We're going to try Charmouth again on 27 or 28th, high water is about 7.30/8.00 pm, so will probably fish from around 5.00 pm until boredom sets in.
One thing we will try is some frozen baby cuttlefish that we found in a chinese supermarket in Brizzol, has anyone tried these before?
