i fished off highcliff near christchurch this am, had a few mackerell and saw a few bass of decent size, and also rats feeding off trash left behind by other anglers.
this is one of the most beautifull areas and it is disapointing to see the satate of the place, i removed countless rigs and hooks plus line discarded where the anglers had finished with it.
guys if you are one of these people who leaves kit please dont, you are not doing our sport and favours and are giving us all a bad name. several locals stopped to chat and made their views well clear, i presumed that they thought i was someone from the council as i was clearing up the debris.
ALF (yes animal rights) do not need anymore reasons to start targeting us and you are playing right into their hands.
if you are fishing and someone else has left kit it takes only a few minutes bewteen bites to gather a shopping bag full.

You are quite right. Maybe just as a habit, we should try to clear up not only our own crap but also something of someone else's. I'm in!

I agree 100% the beaches are left in a sorry state by anglers and all when you clear up after finishing a days or nights enjoyment collect anything else around and bin it ,don't cost anything gives the locals reason to smile me included ;D

Did it myself the other night. Just stick it all in a carrier bag and pop it into the bin on the walk back to the car. I often wonder what some peoples houses must be like. Its lazy, and very, very bad for the sport. These litter leavers are probably the first to moan that the fishing and marine life seems to be less!!!

I fully agree. I have also in the past cleared up after other people, and althoughI had a few of the locals praise me for it, they had nothing but bad words for others. I am sorry to say that this needs to be addressed by all anglers.
