Hi Guys n Gals. Took the boat out Fri, and made the most of the weather to visit the "Bullock Banks" app 17nm miles south of Rye Harbor. Beautiful flat sea (to flat in my humble opinion!). The day started off well, we hit a shoul of Mackerel (the sea was literally boiling with em, and you could see the whitebait jumping out the water!) so that was bait n lunch sorted!. Continued on to the Bullock Banks with great expectations!. When we arrived i started with a few drifts with no luck, so put the pin down over a nice deep gulley and waited! and waited, and waited!!!!! Nothing!(apart from a couple of channel whiting). Used the sonar desperately trying to put the boys on some fish but the whole area appeared dead. Decided to cut our losses n hit a wreck on the way in just off the coast at Dungeness, and altho it was not particularly good, at least we got a bit of action (3 bass upto 4lb, loads of channel whiting upto 2lb, a fair few Doggies, more Mackerel and a 2lb Red Gurnard!!) Sometimes it pays to stay inshore!! Robbie.
