Hi All
Just to let you know Preston Dock / Bullnose will be closed on Sunday 20th November as there is an officially run match organised.
This event is sanctioned by Preston Council and The Harbour Board.
Please remember that events like this help to keep Public Access ( i.e. we can park our cars right next to where we fish) to venues. This event is for local and disabled anglers.
There will be at least 2 similar events between now and Christmas.
The organiser and one local resident have helped badger the appropriate people to keep vehicular access to this venue open - recently a large number of people turned up to fish and as all the car spaces were taken on the front - 2 ******'s drove their 4 wheel vehicles over the high grass banking to park parallel to the venue - all of 10 yard to walk otherwise. Local residents complained - due to the actual damage to the banking i.e obvious wheel tracks they had evidence to take to the Harbour Company!!!!
Only due to the local resident intervening, concrete blocks to block vehicles have been avoided this time!!!
Remember actual access by foot and fishing rights would not be infringed ONLY the inconvienience of not being able to park and fish out of the car as the access road is actually Dock property and due to their goodwill they allow access.
Please report any idiots who put our name in the gutter and may lose us access to venues.
Regards
Bill

as much as i agree with your coments about idiots in 4x4 who cant be bothered to walk, i find it totaly shocking for yourself to say that the bullnose is 'closed' for 3 weekends upto christmas. this is a public fishing area and i for one would of taken a big offence to anybody telling me i couldnt fish there at the weekend. i came down saw how many anglers were present and decided not to fish, but bill, can you explain what you mean by closed? its a public place.

Hi
As I explained this is a pre-arranged official match, with the support of Preston Borough Council (who maintain the Bullnose providing bins and lifebelts for our safety!! also paying to repair the damage caused by drivers - NOT all who are anglers through wear and tear and of course the weather) and the Harbour Company (who own the land thus actually controlling the vehicular access - for our comfort).
Due to idiots!!! not anglers in the most part, both parties have the right to restrict access across their land - as this is a vital venue for disabled anglers several influential people are constantly defending this vehicular access - no one has the right to prevent fishing and this was not my intention to imply, but rather the Borough Council have built a series of steps to maintain this access.
So in order to prove its usage a local group set up to promote disabled anglers access and usage of the venue.
Two points :- 1) How would the press take on the taking away of a venue from people in wheelchairs by big companies??
2) You are, presumably like me and the majority able bodied and, can fish ANY venue you choose these people have ONLY this venue for about 20 miles north or south - namely the piers at Southport and Blackpool - SORRY some idiot managed to lose that access for us all by starting a fire to keep warm!!!!
So I have no doubt that the group concerned not only benefit northern disabled anglers BUT all anglers. I would gladly lose one day per month so that we could have 29 days!!!
They only fish a few matches here, these events will only close at maximum two more days this year, which takes a lot of organising including portable toilets and first aid tents. They are photographed and reported in the press keeping a POSITIVE image of our sport in Joe Publics mind.
If you are in an organised group and plan to fish a venue you would expect that other anglers respect this, wouldn’t you? What about all the big matches that close an area. Including our own website organised events.
You could always turn up on one of their match days and demand your right to fish - which no one on this site would dispute, but I am sure the press would love that - disharmony in the ranks of anglers.
I do not mean to sound pompous, rude or overbearing but if we all have the same rights, who defends the rights of the few who are unable to shout for themselves?
Hope this enlightens you to what I actually meant to say, and yes as a Board Admin I will express my views on behalf of ALL anglers, but at times I will defend one group within angling from the rest.
Especially since my father was disabled- and taught me to fish from the age of 6 1/2, my sister was disabled and I have one disabled brother who still fishes.
Regards

taken on board bill and i fully understand your motives and think its a great idea, but i only get 1 day off a week and after a lousy night shift, i want to to fish somewhere convienent and sometimes its the bullnose. im sure all the people fishing on sunday wer'nt disabled and looked happy enough fishing, hope they all caught well (saw a few being landed), but as long as everybody moves an inch for each other, then im sure we'll be fine.
on a lighter note, i went up beyond the cowsheds and did quite well, but saw the idiots on the banking near the trees with a fire burning...some people are just planks and its them idiots like that, that got blackpool north pier taken away. only problem with parking near the sheds is also the idiots that break into your car. what a world we live in.
sorry for not getting off on the right foot bill.
