i was wondering if any one could give me any advice and maybe tell me where to fish as i have never fished the mersey before. I live in north wales near Holywell and spend most of my time fishing the river Dee, and it's not fishing too bad actualy but i am in need of a change of scenary and as the mersey is the only other place fishing well and is only half an hour away from me, i wouldn't mind giving it a go. would be thankful for any advice.

you should try an easy to fish mark if your trying a new area. try otterspool. its a promenade so its like colwyn but the tide doesnt go out as far and its in any decent atlas. good cod venue and easy to fish and easy to find. usualy lots of other fishermen as well. no long casts needed either.

rig wise i use pennel rigs, as big baits tend to catch the greedy codlin/whitin. not sure tide wise, top of high is best bet as mersey water on the turn passes like a porsh. when i fish most seem to pack up after high
