Hello to you all Ive wanted to fish the mersey for a while now, and was in Liverpool on Monday so I thought I'd drive up towards Otterspool to have a look at some of the venue's Ive read about. Ive heard of Jag House and Otterspool prom and would like some info on these venues please. I passed the Jaguar garage on the roundabout and a bit further up there was a little car park opposite the railings looking out into the Mersey. Is this area fishable? If so, what tide and baits are best. Is this where people fish when they mention Jag House or is that more behind the flats/apartments between the above and the garage? I like to fish where there isnt a long walk from the car and this looked ideal. Im thinking of trying it next weekend so any info would be greatly appreciated. Regards and Tight Lines Ste.

For Jag House you park on the small patch of waste ground at the side, and fish anywhere from there...obviously at weekends it will be busy and the sooner you arrive the closer to your car you`ll be able to fish. Mariners Wharf is another popular spot with easy access and better parking...heading towards Liverpool it`s a left turn on to Mariners Wharf (Marina) and follow the road round until it brings you to the Marina restaurant, then you turn right and drive between the new flats...after 100yds you come to a dead end and car park. You can fish anywhere from there. The fishing can be good with a chance of good cod,but there`s a price to pay....the run on the Liverpool side is pretty strong and it brings with it plenty of weed/toileteries....look to fish the flood on tides up to 27.5ft,anything over that and you`ll spend most of the night picking crap off your line

Thanks for the info.... wanted a change from North Wales as the fishing's been poor recently except for the Dee Estuary. Im still going to fish the Mersey this weekend if I have the chance, will try Seaforth, Alex Wall or Hall Road instead.
Regards

You have to book to get on the Alex Wall....Hall Rd in daylight is a waste of time....one of the lads had a few nice codling from the Radar Tower on Seaforth Rocks on Thursday....very strong tide run...need 7oz/8oz fixed grippers...even then you won`t hold all the time

Hi Thanks Starsky and Somethingfishy for the info. Didnt venture over to the Liverpool side of the Mersey, read on here and other sites that Bromborough Dock Wall was fishing well so went there for high tide. I found it ok. Fished a couple of hours up to high and an hour after. Had a few knocks but blanked. Bait used was Fresh Lug and Mackerel. Could see some others around me catching small whiting and dabs. Will deffo be back there.
