/ Capitals. Capitals may be used to emphasize a word but when a whole post is in capitals the post will be deleted by one of the admins. This also applies when the subject title is all in capitals. The reason that capitals are not allowed is because capital letters on the internet means 'loud and angry' and so offends some users. The other reason why capitals are not allowed is because they are often used to make a post stand out above other users which upsets the other users. The poster will be notified why the post has been removed and invited to repost it correctly IF it included their e-mail address.
/ Arguments. If an argument commences and both sides are being abusive, the admins will delete the whole string. If someone replies aggressively to your post, complain to admin or webmaster. Do not reply aggressively or the whole string will be deleted which includes your original post, even if it was innocent. No notification will be given to the posters.
/ Bass Reports. It is ok to post reports on bass as long as they are not too specific. Give a general description along with the name of the general area or beach but if a post gives specific info with 'exact' location details that could enable gill netters or too many anglers to damage those shoals, then the post will be edited or deleted. The poster will be notified why the post has been edited or removed and invited to repost it correctly IF it included their e-mail address.
/ Advertising. It is ok to advertise a match as long as the post is by the match organiser themself and e-mailed to the webmaster first. This is because of bogus match posts that have sent anglers on bogus trips. It is also ok to advertise a tackle shop or product if replying to someone's query or when that tackle shop or product is a fundamental part of a fishing report or query but it must be by the tackle shop owner and e-mailed to the webmaster first. If you are unsure, ask an admin or webmaster. Blatant advertisements will be deleted with no notice given to the poster.
/ Links to other sites or forums. Some are allowed and some are not and often depends on whether the other site/forum allows links to NWSA or UKSA. Contact an admin to check first. A link to a site or forum that does not reciprocate will result in a ban.
/ Images with Posts. It is allowed to use images with posts as long as they are not offensive or advertising. To use an image, simply upload an image to any web space and put the url in the image facility under your post. If you do not have any web space the NWSA webmaster will put the image onto NWSA web space for you and tell you the URL to include in the image box of your post (at bottom). To do this, just e-mail your image to the webmaster with instructions of what you want. Images make your post more interesting/attractive and can often help in what you are saying. They are especially useful when the post is about a venue or catch. You can also use an image as your signature if you wish. To have an image as your constant signature, simply upload the image as described above and then register again and put the URL of the image in the image box at bottom.
/ Off Topic Posts (OTP's) On the whole, these are allowed, within reason!!! However, if admin or webmaster feel that there are too many of these OTP's obliterating the board, they may thin them out or remove all of them.
/ Incorrect Board Topic If a post is placed on the wrong board, such as a post about Wales on the Northwest board etc, it will be 'moved' to the correct forum.
/ Swearing. Swearing is not allowed and asterixed swear words like s**t is still swearing and recognised so by children who use the forum. Swear words in full, or partial and admin will either remove the word from your post or delete your post altogether. No notification will be given to the poster.
/ Criticism or Complaints. Criticism or complaints about admins or the web site will be deleted. This is not (as some think) because the admins and/or webmaster are afraid of criticism, but because with arguing not being allowed on the board, the admins and webmaster cannot reply to criticism without breaking their own rule on arguing and therefore being hypocrites. If you have a criticism or complaint, please e-mail the webmaster or an admin. No notification will be given to the poster.
/ Politics. Politics are allowed on the board especially when linked to fishing topics.
/ Locked Threads. If admin 'lock' a thread, this will leave all posts in the thread visible but will not allow further posts to be added to it. If a user attempts to post a reply to the thread in a seperate thread, it will be deleted. Threads are sometimes locked when a friendly discussion goes too far and takes over the board, often with the same point being constantly repeated.
/ Bans. Only one person to date has ever been banned permanently from the board but a few have had temporary bans, usually for aggresive posts. A ban stops the persons browser and/or IP address from being able to view or post on the board. When a ban is imposed, it can sometimes affect an innocent user with a similar IP address or similar browser TNP. If this happens to you, e-mail the webmaster or an admin. All bans are strictly confidential even after the ban has been lifted. No user is allowed to know if another user has ever been banned.
/ Search Facility. The search facility is the 4th button in the row of buttons at the top of the board. This is especially useful if you only wish to view reports of one specific venue. It's also useful to look up an old post. Simply type in the keyword. This also applies to venues ,users names or any word or name that you choose.
/ Polls. Occasionally there are polls set up by the webmaster or admin and appear at the top left of the board. Although to date, there have only been polls set up by the webmaster and admin, this function is available to anyone who wishes to get an opinion on anything. The polls are genuine because they only allow each board user to vote once. To create a poll, simply notify the webmaster or admin with the details and they will do the rest.
On behalf of the admins and myself I hope you enjoy the boards.
