having not used my boat for about two years what sort of things if any should i do to prepare the engine before starting it and do you think its gonna be a problem to start

Depends on how much work you did before you put it into storage. If you fully winterised it and you properly look after your battery (if you use one) you will have little problem.
Strip & clean the plug + reset the gap etc. Strip & clean out the carb and jets if any fuel has been left in. Flush out any old fuel that may be remaining anywhere in the system & tank(s) Get a thin coating of lubrication to all the inner moving parts if you can before you run it. Clean and dry your electrics + a little WD40 over them won't go amiss. Use NEW fuel. This should minimise most problems.

Change the gearbox oil. Whilst the plugs are out give each cylinder half a cap of oil and turn the engine over to loosen everything up. When you fire it up make sure you have a good flow from the pee pipe.

didnt do anything to it before hand, oops! its just a little 4 hp outboard so not much can go wrong, thats my theory anyway. thanks for the advice guys, gonna get it out in the next couple of months so i'll let you know
