Since the demise of the old NWSA forums, lots of good info has gone, so sorry for not noting it down at the time. I've a mate who will be staying at Fort Belan in March and he has a RIB. Launching there is very restricted by the tide, I recall Ronnies being a bit friendier. What is the situation with Ronnies, where is it, is Ronnie a person or location ? etc etc any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you stand on the point at Belan looking towards Caernarfon you will see a small white cottage about a mile ahead and slightly right. That is Ronnies. It is marked on the chart as Conspic white bldg.
To get there from Belan go back up to the main road and follow it into Caernarfon. Just as you drop down the hill there is a road to your left, Coed Helen. Follow this round for 2 miles and you will come to Ronnies. THe place was sold last year to Chris, he is still launching. Last year it was £10 for a tractor launch and parking for trailer and car.

Thanks for that. Do you have a contact number ? I doubt I'll do any fishing from his boat as he's a speed merchant, but I may get the chance to fish Dinas, so will report back. Have failed miserabley for the last 4 or 5 years, mid March from Belan, any tips ?

01286672749 was the number, not sure if it changed when he sold.
Try peeler on low water in the bay under the guns. March is a bit early for shallow water, watr is at it's coldest, you will get to a deep channel from the bay with a decent cast, this would be where any bass that may be about will be.

I fish down at the fort most weekends and have summer moorings there, the shore fishing is not up to much at the moment, in fact its terrible i fished the beach side last Friday up to high and blanked then fished near the fort Saturday afternoon/evening and blanked again, the only problem fishing near the cannons on low is that you fish into the run and will pick all the weed up, i have found that this is best fished closer to high, try fishing on the point (facing Caernarfon) this is only fishable on the flood and is usually weed free but dont expect much. A quicker route to Ronnies is as you leave Dinas take a left before you reach the main road this will bring you to Llandwrog, turn left here and follow this road untill you see a sign for the beach, there are only two cottages with slips on this stretch ones private, you will recognise the other with all the boats stored in the back. You can allways stop off at Chris on the way hes good for a cup of tea and some advice (joke Chris)

Kettle is always on Glynn, serious . Didn't suggest that route as the road at Llandwrog is very narrow and the turn in the village near the Tyn Llan is a nightmare with a trailer. Anyone coming the other way that you meet and one of you will have to reverse, it is also a bus route with a limited number of places where you can pass if you meet the bus. There are a lot of blind bends on it as well, not ideal for towing if you don't know the road IMHO.

Your quite right chris didnt think about how narrow the turning is at Llandwrog, stick to the main road as Chris sugests mate, i may see you at the fort.

c :-[hris, Glyn. Thanks for all the info. If I get the chance, I will try peeler from below the guns at high and low ! Failing that, the point facing Caerarfon. May try the beach side as well. I am there on a family weekend - with 60 staying in the Fort, so I do have to do the family things. The tides for the weekend of the 18th look OK for launching from the Fort slip way - high around lunch time. If you are about look for the RIB with 125hp hanging off the back, no doubt I'll be the one in the water !
