My vhf is picking up the clicking (sonar pulse) off my fish finder, i have been told a suppressor might help, where can i get one and how would i wire it in. any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. martin.

hi is the radio wired to seperate live and earths or are all uits wired to common live and earthsis the airial cable to socket making good connection ie soldered joints ?

Yes capnjack the units share a common live and earth (screwed into same connector block) and the airial cable is in good nick and the socket is soldered.

Ty a direct feed to your VHF from the battery, fresh power and earth wire that is not shared by anything else.

Hi I have just had the same problem when fitting a new Eagle FF. Problem cured by fitting a supressor from an old car radio. All car accessory shops will sell them they have a series coil and a large capacitor. Easily wired to the VHF, Live and ground in live and ground out. hopes this helps. Cheers. Paul.

Got a marine 10a suppressor wired it to the vhf but no differance, seperated the power supply and wrapped foil around sounder cable and aerial cable no differance I will try suppressing the sounder power supply but if that wont work i will give up and just turn the sounder off when not needed. The sounder is a eagle super pro I.D. and is quite old so i might replace it at the end of this season for a more modern one.
