Has anyone any advice on which boat rod/reels are most suited to Kayak fishing?

Hi PK ;D I would say if you sea fish already then you have the reels for the job. I have a Diawa SLOSH 30 and a Penn 525 GS beach reels. The standard beach reel is more than up for fishing from a kayak. I fished in 85ft of water off Anglesey so when you consider that the average cast from the shore is 250 to 300ft then you have plenty of line left on your reel. If you use mono and want to up the line strength then think about using braid. As far as rod go i don't see the point in paying what i see as over the odds since there is no casting involved. I have paid as little as £17 to £22 and found them to be good value.

Thanks. Not actually got any boat gear but shore fish a lot around Anglesey. Bought a frenzy for the kids and was looking to give it a go for fishing. One of my rods is an 8 foot spinner so was hoping to utilise that but have seen a Penn Power Stick 12-20lb with 310GTi reel for 125 quid, and wife will buy for christmas! Any good ?

My two boat rods are 12/20lb and 15/30lb, both are about six and a half feet in length. I some times take a nine foot Jarvis Walker spinning rod, normally for float, spinning and have used it for bottom work. The lack of stiffness enhances the fight all the more. It sounds like you have the right gear to catch fish. If you take a look at the Ocean Frenzy thread it might give you ideas how to rig the kayak out thats if the kids let you.
