Georgieb and myself managed to wet a paddle today at short notice, decided on north shore in llandudno, there was a slight swell on due to the NE wind but it soon picked up and the white horses started to appear so we packed up and headed for shelter over at west shore, llandudno, was flat calm there. ;D George took his rods but didn't get a bait in the water, we just had a good paddle round. We were thinking that west shore could be a good venue for a meet, there are a couple of man made breakwaters, the great orme is on the doorstep, so is the conwy estuary, so no matter where you head to there is the potential for some good all round fishing. apologies to anyone that mite have liked to have joined us but the decision to go was made last night, and for whatever reason the forum was down so we had no way of letting people know. George took a few pics of us today, so we might see some pretty soon, none of me upside down in the surf though, today was a "I'm not getting wet day!!" ;D ;D

It was choppy but martin had a go fair play. I kept out whilst taking photo's and getting the boat ready-(thats my excuse anyway) - it got worse. and worse and worse this was within about an hour or so of arriving. We gave it up as a bad job and moved to West Beach- Llandudno. Out of the wind a different although constantly changing situation altogether- to the North- (Great orme) and to the south(Deganwy) I was ready to fish today but time and other factors worked against that, such as the strong cross current on the ebb tide . What we did find though was that our paddle was a good recon mission for the future. We found plently of potential yak fishsing spots, which may be especially good in the summer. Further more there were others marks we came accross that were groynes etc but they were well off the beaten track, and if you had to to walk to them it would have been more than than mile or so across not very good ground - no problem if you're happy to do that. However, thats where today showed that the kayak is a very usefull tool - not just to fish from but also to use as a means of transporting your gear to the venue. We were on venues this afternoon, reached through 15-20mins paddle close to shore that would have been hard ( to say the least) to reach from parking somewhere and dragging your gear a mile or more. To reach such marks the kayak is just about ideal. You could, park in the carpark 20 M from the water in many cases, load your gear on your boat , beachcasters - anything , arrive at your mark, beach your boat , unload your gear. Fish-BBQ- enjoy- return. Another opportunity. All the best - georgie

Where have you got in mind??, let me indulge the breadknife (wife) with lots of expensive gifts this week and that should put me in good stead for wetting a paddle ;D ;D. Looking at the pics that george took there, thats why i want a surf yak as a second boat.
