Have read a few comments about putting vaseline on the hatch covers and seals? Surely this should be avoided at all cost. Vaseline is petroleum based and rots rubber and plastics. Would it not be better to get a silicon based grease or red rubber grease for this job?

hello mate i been using vaseline for years on differant yaks and never had any problem i think there is a prtrolium content but its so little i dont think it matters after all its recomended for babys so must be harmless .i think it would be better though to get as you say rubber grease . terry
