Spotted this at www.uksa.org/car_in_ws.html They train you over 12 weeks to be a kayaking instructor. I'm told it's £900 but that includes 3 weeks in Australia with kayaking on the barrier reef. The rest of the training is done at the Isle of Wight. I'm sure your wives will be ok about the price when you point out you'll be in Australia for 3 weeks.

Ive been looking through the pyb website and i plan on loading myself on one of their sea kayaking courses. the one i fancy is the "sea kayak improver" a 2 day course for £163 cheap as chips i think. the course covers the following, -weather prediction and awareness -route planning -rescues -tidal planning and navigation -safety -decktop navigation. there are other things covered but they are the main areas. The courses are run over a weekend and you can even use your own kayak and kit. If there is anyone out there interested in joining me, give me a shout and we can look into it in more depth and possibly book some dates. martin
