Hi everybody, just wondering how do fish out of a Kayak? How do land a big fish without tipping over and where on earth do you it put once you have it on-board? Where do you keep your bait and spare tackle? having never seen a sea fishing Kayak and probably never will I would appreciate any answers. Cheers Tompa

hi tompa, lets see if i can shed some light on it for you, ive not actually caught a fish on mine yet but i know the methods behind it. firstly take browse through the kayak fishing threads, for example, "kayak meet photos 4th feb", go to page 2 of the threads and look at "sunday 22nd at dinas" also on page 2 is the list of kayak web shops, have a browse through them an get an idea of a kayaks set up. Look at www.oceankayak.com. there is plenty of room on the angler kayaks, storage hatches, recesses, webbing straps and elastic cord, making it easy to get yourself organized on board, theres no need for a man mountain of kit, you can travel light when it comes to tackle. As for fishing positions, ive only seen people do one of two ways, either sit in your seat as you would if you were paddling or sit side on with your feet in the water, its surprising how stable they are. most of my fish are returned, but if you wanted to keep them theres plenty of room for a small bucket or tub behind your seat, if you out bagging up on mackerel you could always stick em in your pockets ;D hope some of that helped you get your head round it, im sure someone with a bit more experience than me will add to it at some point and satisfy your curiosity. all the best martin

Thanks for that Martin I'm starting to get the picture now! ;D Will have a look at those pages! Reason I ask was when I was a young boy I used to own a sea kayak and spent most of my time in it or should I say out of it just like your avatar remember loving it so at some point will possibly try it! A little bit info goes a long way so will try it sooner than later! Thanks again mate Tompa ;D
