I was toying with the idea of a trophy for the best fish caught on a kayak. Your views?

How will we prove the catch ( assuming its catch and release) ?

fill your kayak with water via the front hatch and put an aerator pump in there ;D ;D ;D, good point though george, on a serious note.

No entry fee. I'd pay for the trophy myself. As for proving the catch, I'd assumed on honesty. Another way though would be for one person to be judge and pick the winning fish on merit based on type, size, method caught etc. Judges decision is final and all that. How about John Legg as judge? Or how about a competition on who comes in on the surf best? Maybe the idea is a non runner or mabe not. What do you think?

good idea Glyn i would be up for that just an idea if we had landing nets we could keep the fish alive in that till we get to the nearest competitor but i would like to think we can trust each other and do it on a honesty catch looking forward to seeing some new faces

John, I was referring to a trophy for 16th April. I'm sure you all can think of a method to judge the fish either by length or a judging panel. Or how about quantity of fish. The person who catches the most. Size and type irrelevant. All small fish would go back into the sea as usual.

It would be nice do it on a honesty basis and i think that those who are likley to be there on the 16th can be trusted to do it on that basis- alternatively we should all be in radio contact and it should take nothing more than a call from a member to the rest of the group asking for the nearest person to witness the catch. we are on new ground here and we need to learn new ways of dealing this issue. The trouble with a trophy for the kayaking side of it is that there is no guarantee you can get out fishing on the day, having been in pensarn this afternoon you could not have fished it on a kayak without risking your neck.

having thought about it - so long as its fishable - lets go for it - a trophy on Sunday for the kayak crowd. No entry fee and no prizes apart from the trophy -why not?
Go for it Glyn !

OK. I'll get one made up on Monday and post a pic of it on here like I did with the shore trophies on the Wales forum.
